Nirma University’s NSS Unit Empowers Underprivileged Children Through Literacy Drive

The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the School of Technology at Nirma University conducted a literacy drive aimed at educating underprivileged children and fostering awareness about their cultural heritage. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation, with 20 to 25 children gaining valuable knowledge in multiple languages and general awareness.

Volunteers taught basic alphabets, including Gujarati and Hindi scripts, ensuring the young learners grasped the fundamentals of language and communication. Additionally, the children were introduced to India’s rich heritage, learning about the Seven Wonders of India and exploring the Indian map in detail.

The session provided an in-depth insight into Gujarat, covering its map, historical wonders, famous places, and attractions. This approach not only enhanced their literacy skills but also instilled a sense of pride in their culture and homeland.

The event concluded on a heartwarming note as children engaged in colourful drawing activities, unleashing their creativity while bonding with the volunteers. NSS members spent quality time interacting with the children, making the session both educational and enjoyable.

Beyond academics, the event emphasised the importance of education in shaping their future. The NSS team motivated the children to continue learning and growing, instilling in them the belief that education is the key to a brighter future.
