SAIT Indore Celebrates World Environment Day 2025: “Greener Today, Safer Tomorrow”

Indore, 5th June 2025:
Sri Aurobindo Institute of Technology (SAIT), Indore, observed World Environment Day 2025, catalyzed and supported by NCSTC, DST, New Delhi, “Science & Technology Popularization Scheme” & MP Council of Science & Technology Bhopal, with inspiring zeal and dedication under the theme “Greener Today, Safer Tomorrow – Building a Sustainable Environment.” The event aimed to raise awareness on critical environmental issues while encouraging sustainable living among students and faculty.

The celebration commenced with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony and Saraswati Vandana, followed by the floral welcome of distinguished guests. Mrs. Chani Trivedi, Vice Chairperson of SAIMST, and Dr. Aaquil Bunglowala, Director of SAIT, delivered motivating addresses emphasizing the role of educational institutions in fostering environmental responsibility.

A powerful pledge ceremony, “Green Today, Greener Tomorrow: A Pledge for a Sustainable Future,” was conducted where all attendees vowed to embrace eco-friendly habits, minimize plastic use, and contribute to campus greenery.

The event featured enlightening expert talks:

  • Mr. Atul Jain, Director at Connect2India, discussed “Green Computing Solutions for Remote Work and Virtual Meetings,” highlighting how digital behavior can influence environmental sustainability.
  • Dr. Kavita Sharma, Professor & Head at SVVV Indore, delivered a talk on “The Science Behind Clean Environment and a Healthy Planet,” linking everyday choices to environmental and public health.

In the second half, various engaging competitions saw enthusiastic participation:

  • A Rangoli Competition titled “Rangoli for a Greener Tomorrow” showcased eco-friendly art.
  • The Model, Project & Digital Poster Competition on “Plastic-Free Planet: Model of Alternatives” highlighted innovative student-led solutions to reduce plastic use.
  • The Short Film Competition, themed on the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, featured impactful short films addressing real-world environmental challenges.

Participants were awarded certificates and exciting prizes, encouraging continued commitment to sustainability. The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Dr. Anupam Mandloi, Vice Principal of SAIT.

Adding an emotional and symbolic touch, a plantation drive titled “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” was conducted, where students planted saplings in honor of their mothers—echoing the nurturing spirit of both motherhood and Mother Earth.

The day-long celebration was a powerful reminder that small individual steps can collectively lead to a greener, safer, and more sustainable future.
