National Mathematics Day 2024 Celebrated at Sri Aurobindo Institute of Technology

Indore, Madhya Pradesh – December 23, 2024 – Sri Aurobindo Institute of Technology (SAIT) marked National Mathematics Day 2024 with an inspiring and intellectually stimulating celebration, honoring the theme “Unveiling the Beauty of Numbers: A Tribute to Srinivasa Ramanujan”. The event, organized by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and supported by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology, brought together students, faculty, and distinguished experts for a day of knowledge-sharing and inspiration.

The day commenced with a traditional Lamp Lighting Ceremony and Saraswati Vandana, signifying the reverence for knowledge and wisdom that mathematics embodies. The ceremony set the tone for a day of intellectual exploration and tribute to the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.

Prof. Tapan Mukherji, Director of the Incubation Forum at SGSITS, and Dr. Harshal Lowalekar, Professor at IIM Indore, were warmly honored with floral tributes in recognition of their invaluable contributions to mathematics and education.

Dr. Aaquil Bunglowala, Director of SAIT, addressed the gathering with a compelling message on the importance of mathematics as the cornerstone of innovation and technology. He encouraged students to delve into the endless possibilities that mathematics offers in shaping the future.

A thought-provoking street play, “Financial Literacy and Cyber-Crime,” was presented to highlight the role of financial literacy in preventing cyber-crimes. The play effectively communicated how understanding secure financial practices can help individuals protect themselves against digital threats.

Prof. Tapan Mukherji emphasized the crucial role of mathematics in entrepreneurship, particularly in decision-making, optimization, and innovation. Dr. Harshal Lowalekar explored how mathematical tools like statistics and optimization are used in management to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency.

The poster competition featured over 40 student participants, who creatively depicted the connection between mathematics and its real-world applications. Their innovative presentations celebrated the beauty of numbers and patterns in the world around us.

A captivating short film explored the life and contributions of Srinivasa Ramanujan, shedding light on his genius and the lasting impact of his work, inspiring students to appreciate the profound role of mathematics in shaping the world.

Winners of various competitions were recognized for their outstanding efforts. In the Poster Competition, Batul Athar (B-Tech II Year) took first place, with Parinidhi Kataiha and Riya Koshta (B-Tech II Year) in second place and Piyush Kurawale (B-Tech I Year) in third. In the Quiz Competition, Aarush Pandey (B-Tech I Year) secured first place, followed by Devraj Tha (B-Tech I Year) in second and Lakshay Negre (B-Tech I Year) in third. In the Short Movie Competition, Prince Malviya (B-Tech II Year) earned first place. The quiz competition was hosted by Zamanuddin Khan from B-Tech II Year (CSE), adding to the engaging atmosphere of the event.

In appreciation of their contributions, Dr. Aaquil Bunglowala presented a token of remembrance to the distinguished guests, Prof. Tapan Mukherji and Dr. Harshal Lowalekar.

The event concluded with the National Anthem, symbolizing unity and respect. Prof. Amit Holkar, Head of Academics at SAIT, delivered a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speakers, participants, and organizing team for their efforts in making National Mathematics Day a resounding success.

The event concluded with a networking session, providing an opportunity for informal discussions and interactions among guests, participants, and faculty.

National Mathematics Day 2024 at SAIT successfully highlighted the importance of mathematics in today’s world, leaving attendees inspired to further explore the discipline’s vast potential and its contributions to various fields.
