Sri Aurobindo Institute of Technology (SAIT), Indore, organized a Two-Day National Workshop on “IPR Awareness, Innovation and Research” on 1–2 September 2026. The workshop was Catalysed & Supported by the Madhya Pradesh Council of Science & Technology (MPCST), Bhopal. The workshop aimed to create awareness and develop a practical understanding among faculty members, research scholars and students regarding Intellectual Property Rights, innovation, research commercialization and protection of intellectual assets.
The two-day programme brought together experts from academia, research, industry, entrepreneurship and innovation, who shared their knowledge and practical experiences with the participants. The first day commenced with Saraswati Vandana and ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by the welcome address by Dr. Aaquil Bunglowala, Director, Sri Aurobindo Institute of Technology, Indore.
Prof. Ruchi Sharma, Professor of Economics and IPR Chair Professor at IIT Indore, delivered a session on “IPR – An Introduction”, providing participants with an understanding of the fundamentals and significance of Intellectual Property Rights. This was followed by a session by Mr. Sridhar Seshadri, Managing Partner, Everest AI VC Inc., on “Research Commercialization: Transforming Academic Innovations into Intellectual Property Assets.” He highlighted the importance of translating academic research and innovations into valuable intellectual property assets and explored the broader aspects of research commercialization.
The final technical session of Day 1 was conducted by Dr. Anurag Shrivastava, Adjoint Professor, Lincoln University & Multimedia University, Malaysia, on “Empowering Faculty with IPR.” The session focused on strengthening faculty understanding and engagement with intellectual property.
Day 2 continued with sessions focusing on practical and strategic aspects of intellectual property. Mr. Dhruv Patel, Incubation Manager, Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, delivered a session on “Patent and its Filing Process,” providing participants with insights into patents and the patent filing process. Dr. Anupam Mandloi, Vice Principal, Sri Aurobindo Institute of Technology, Indore, subsequently addressed “IPR Strategy for Startups,” highlighting the importance of developing appropriate IP strategies for emerging ventures and technology-based startups.
The final technical session was again conducted by Mr. Dhruv Patel on Geographical Indication (GI), Integrated Circuits (IC) and Plant Variety, introducing participants to these important areas of intellectual property protection. The workshop concluded with a Valedictory & Certification Ceremony, where participants reflected on their learning and received certificates of participation. Prof. Amit Holkar, Head Academics, SAIT, delivered the Vote of Thanks.
The workshop witnessed participation from faculty members, research scholars and undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing them with an opportunity to interact with experts, exchange ideas and explore avenues for research, innovation and collaboration.
The institute emphasized that such initiatives are an important part of its efforts to foster a culture of research, innovation, entrepreneurship and intellectual property awareness, while strengthening the connection between academic research and its practical and commercial potential.
