Gulzari Lal Nanda’s contribution to Indian society is irreplaceable: VC KUK

Kurukshetra. 15 January. Sh Gulzari Lal Nanda Centre of Ethics, Philosophy, Museum and Library, Kurukshetra University commemorated Nanda ji’s Punya Tithi on 15 January 2025 by paying floral tribute at the Nanda Memorial, planting saplings in the centre premises and by garlanding Nanda statue.  The Chief Guest of the programme, Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva recalled Nanda ji’s contribution to Indian society for laying the foundation of many social, religious and cultural institutes. Prof Sachdeva added that Nanda ji was a true inspiration for the society who believed in simple living and high thinking.
Honorary Secretary, Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB), Upender Singhal said that Nanda ji established KDB for the protection, promotion and development of the pilgrimages of Kurukshetra. Guest of Honour, former state minister, Subash Sudha said that Nanda ji’s efforts in the development of the modern form of Kurukshetra are incomparable. Veteran Journalist, Vijay Sabbarwal recalled the time spent in the company of such honest personality who always lived his life according to the moral and ethical values. Peethadhyaksh, Maa Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth, Kurukshetra, Satpal Sharma said that the new generation should follow the ideals of Nanda ji. Incharge, Nanda Centre KUK, Dr Shuchismita gave formal vote of thanks and elucidated on the achievements of the centre. Kurukshetra Senior Citizen Club, AC Nagpal, Chairman, 48 Kos Tirtha,  Madan Mohan Chabra graced the occasion as special guests and Dr Sharma further informed that various activities like bhajan programme, Khatu Shyam Satsang, poetry recitation by Adabi Sangam, painting and poster making dedicated to Nanda ji were organised and Gulzari Lal Nanda Centre table calendar was released by the dignitaries. On this occasion, Registrar Kurukshetra University Dr Virender Pal, Director, DYCA, Prof Vivek Chawla, Director Public Relations, Prof Maha Singh Poonia, Prof. Krishna Devi, Dr. Pritam Singh, NSS Coordinator KUK Dr Anand, Saurabh Chaudhary, Captain Paramjit Singh, Rishipal Mathana, Dr. MK Moudgil and other officials from KDB, KUK and state  were present.
