A One Week online ISTE approved Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Recent Trends in RF and Microelectronics”, was organised by Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering,Don Bosco College of Engineering and Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering,National Institute of Technology,Goa from 31st August 2020 to 4th September 2020.
Around 100 participants attended the FDP from all over the globe. The FDP commenced with the inaugural ceremony in the presence of our Director Rev. Fr. KinleyD’Cruz, Principal Dr.NeenaPanandikar,Dr.VarshaTurkar,Head of ETC Dept. DBCE and convener, Dr.Vasantha M.H., Registrar, NIT, Goa andco-convener for this FDP and faculty members of DBCE and NIT, Goa.The host for the inaugural ceremony was Asst.Prof. Samantha Cardoso.
The coordinators of this FDP were Asst. Prof Trima P. Fernandes e Fizardo, Asst. Prof Samantha Cardoso from DBCE, Dr.Pragati Patel, Dr.LalatInduGiri from NIT, Goa.The members of the broadcasting team were Prof. YeshudasMuttu, and Dr.ShreyasSimu. The system support staff wereMr. Romeo D’Cruz, Mr.AmitSapkal andMr. Ignatius Dias. Eminent speakers from Indian Space Research Organisation, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and National Institute of Technology,Goawith expertise in the field of RF and Microelectronicsdelivered sessions during the course of the entire week.
Day1:
The First Speaker of the day was Mr.Puneet Kumar Mishra,Scientist,Indian Space Research Organisation,Chair IEEE Bangalore section.He enlightened us on Satellite Configuration,Design,Assembly,Integration and Testing.He also showed us videos of satellite launch at Indian Space Research Organisation.
The second session was conducted by Dr.SatyanarayanaBheesette,Scientific Officer(H) at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research,Mumbai. He gave us insights on Microelectronics for RF Signal Processing.
Day 2:
The second day commenced with the session on “Design of High Speed Comparators”,delivered by Dr.Nithin Kumar,Assistant Professor and Head of Electronics and Communication Engineering,National Institute of Technology,Goa.He covered the basic design issues of conventional comparator and methods to improve the speed with minimum power consumption. The afternoon session of the day was delivered by Dr.MilindMahajan,Director,Antenna Systems Group; ISRO-Ahmedabad. He explained the spacecraft Antenna Design and Development Challenges.
Day 3:
The day commenced with a session on Design of Gm-C based low power continuous time filter,delivered by Dr.Vasantha M.H, Associate Professor,Department of ECE,NIT Goa.He explained how Gm-C filters can be designed to offer higher bandwidth if the dynamic range requirement is relaxed for the same power. The afternoon session of the day was delivered by Dr.H.G. Virani,Professor and Head of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering,Goa College of Engineering,Farmagudi.He elaborated on trends in Integrated Circuits.
Day 4:
The fourth Day of the faculty Development Programme had three sessions.The morning session was delivered by E. Mallikarjun, Assistant Professor,Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering,National Institute of Technology,Goa.The session was on Non-destructive evaluation of concealed objects via microwave imaging applications,image configurations,electromagnetic scattering equations,inverse formulations,regularization methods numerical results and future direction.
The afternoon session was conducted by Prof.MohiniNaik,Assistant Professor,Don Bosco College of Engineering,Fatorda.She spoke on her research area of MillimeterWave Antennas.
The final session for the day was delivered by Dr.Pragati Patel,Assistant Professor,Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering,National Institute of Technology,Goa.She enlightened us on Recent Trends in Dielectric Resonator Antennas for Various Applications.
The final day commenced with a talk on Design of Matching Networks for RFIC Application,delivered by Dr.AnirbanChaterjee,Assistant Professor,Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering,National Institute of Technology,Goa.He discussed basic L-section networks,as well as T and pi type of networks to perform matching,ensuring minimum reflection between the source and load.
The afternoon session was delivered by Dr.LalatInduGiri,Assistant Professor,Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering,National Institute of Technology,Goa.He enlightened us on Thermal Imaging for Biomedical Instrumentation and Agriculture Electronics.
The FDP ended with a valedictory function wherein the participants gave their valuable feedback.The reviews of the workshop were excellent.Rev. Fr. KinleyD’Cruz, Director and Dr.NeenaPanandikar, Principal was also present for the function.Asst.Professor Trima P.Fernandes e Fizardo, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering,delivered the report of five days FDP and Dr.VarshaTurkar,HOD Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering proposed the vote of thanks.
