NACONES-2025 held at Kurukshetra University

Kurukshetra, 24 January.  Institute of Environmental Studies (IES), Kurukshetra University organised “National Conference on Environment and Sustainability (NACONES-2025)” on Friday in the Conference Hall of the institute. During the inaugural session of this conference, the Chief Guest, Vice Chancellor,  Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Prof. Narsi Ram Bishnoi said that we need to establish harmony and balance with nature. In the race of competition for development and to get ahead, people have exploited natural resources excessively. Prof Bishnoi added that   the recent fire in the forests of America reflect natural imbalance. Prof Bishnoi highlighted that in the National Education Policy 2020 and NIRF ranking, an important place has been given to achieving the objective of sustainable development of the environment. Vice Chancellor, Kurukshetra University, Prof Som Nath Sachdeva conveyed his best wishes to the conference organizing team and said that this conference will provide a  platform for insightful deliberation.  
KU Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Dinesh Kumar, in his presidential address, said that the cause of environmental imbalance is caused by people therefore environmental protection is the dire need. Prof Dinesh further said that the Government of India is running projects like Jal Shakti, Namami Gange, Clean Air Mission, Solar Energy under 17 SDGs. At the same time, marks have been fixed for green environment and solid waste management in the NAAC evaluation. Prof Dinesh informed that 40 acres of KU has been protected for environmental protection. KU has adopted the environmental protection policy and made plantation by students a mandatory part of the curriculum.

The keynote speaker, Prof. Anubha Kaushik, GGS Indraprastha University, Delhi, informed about the 17 SDG objectives of UN Agenda 2030 which are based on three pillars which include sustainable development, social and economic development. Prof. Kaushik told that the Government of India is fulfilling the goal of sustainable development objective through Jal Jeevan Mission, Housing Scheme, Ayushman Bharat, Ujjwala Scheme, Skill Scheme, Mudra Scheme, Digital India and Solar Energy Mission. Under Innovation Renewable Energy, a target of 500 gigawatt energy has been set by 2030.
Conference convener and Dean, Life Sciences, Prof. Jitender Sharma welcomed all the guests and elaborated on the outline of the conference. Organizing Secretary, Dr. Sandeep Gupta informed that a total of 183 research papers have been received in the conference. Deputy Director PRO, Dr Jimmy Sharma informed that an Abstract Book of the conference was released by the dignitaries.  The conference was moderated by Dr. Meenakshi Suhag and Dr. Pooja.

Raghavendra Rao IAS, former Chairman, Haryana State Pollution Control Board, Prof. Sanjeev Aggarwal, Prof. Kiran Singh, Prof. Neera Raghav, Prof. Tejinder Sharma, Prof. Jasbir Dhanda, Prof. Narendra Singh, Prof. Anita Bhatnagar, Prof. Suneet Dalal, Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Prof. Jasbir Dhanda, Prof. Parmesh Kumar, Prof. Jitendra Bhardwaj, Dr. Hardeep Rai Sharma, Dr. Deepak Rai Babbar, Dr. Jitendra Khatkar, Dr. Sombir Jakhar, Dr. Naresh Kumar, Controller of Examinations Dr. Ankeshwar Prakash along with teachers and researchers were present.
